The Cactus Classic, Scottsdale Arizona, March 2012 Francesca and Smart Like Valentino have been competing and winning in the sun this winter. The $10,000 added Cactus Classic Non Pro Derby attracted 49 entries from the toughest selection of Non Pro RIders in the USA, Including several World Champions, NRHA Champions and last years Futurity winner. Despite suffering from the Flu and only having two days to get ready in, having not ridden Valentino before the pair managed to pull off a victory in both the Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro Divisions. Francesca said after the class "it is a tribute to Stephano Massignan, resident trainer at the Sterling Ranch in Texas, that he could manage to train a horse so well that it could manage with me after only two rides, a big big thank you!" Francesca scored a 74 and 74.5 across the board to beat Anne Reynolds, the million dollar cow horse champion from California. Next stop for Francesca and Valentino will be the big NRBC show in Houston Texas next month. |
